The FAZR PUCK is a creation from Frank Roberts of Sensor Maestros, ME 😉  The inspiration came from sitting at my desk one day in which I had a BLE controllable wearable LED string product that I had developed for my kids several years back that was in operation/testing and I had one of my SFM2’s sitting on my desk and I had a couple of hockey pucks sitting in my office from coaching earlier that week.  There are numerous hockey pucks laying around in the house with having 2 kids and myself that play hockey.  Sitting back watching the BLE controlled LED string(I called FAZR LED at the time) and seeing the SFM2(9 DOF IMU) and a couple of pucks I had a kick of inspiration to combine the FAZR LED and SFM2 into a hockey puck.  That inspiration was back nearly 6years ago.  Man how time has flown.  So one may ask where does the name FAZR come from?  It originated when I was trying to think of a cool name for the BLE controlled LED string and I kept thinking something to do with Laser and LED and played around with some words and came upon FAZR which stands for

The FAZR PUCK is the first and only hockey puck that automatically detects the speed of a shot and stickhandling.  It provides immediate visual feedback to the user if the shot speed exceeded their Shot Speed Goal entered into the App and provides feedback on stickhandling detections.  The FAZR PUCK is truly a Smart Training Device.  It is very simple to use in which a user simply adds their FAZR PUCK(s) to their Profile/Synched Device list.  After that there are currently 3 Sessions/Modes the user can select to use the FAZR PUCK in.

• Shot Training Session:  User enters Shot Target Speed Goal and the Number of Shots the user wants to shoot during that session.  At the end of the Session the user is provided a Shot Training Session Report showing the following:
  • Graph showing each shot speed
  • Number of Shots Taken
  • Average Shot Speed
  • Shot Speed Goal
  • Number of Shots that exceeded Shot Speed Goal
• Stickhandling Training Session:  User enters Total Number of Stickhandles/Touches and the Time Period for the Session in Minutes.  At the end of the Session the user is provided with a Stickhandling Training Session Report showing the following:
  • Number of Stickhandles
  • Session Time Elapsed
  • Stickhandles Per Minute
• Fun Mode:  Fun Mode is simply a means for users to ‘have fun’ and allows them to change the FAZR PUCK(s) LED color, blink pattern, blink rate, and brightness.  A color wheel is provided to allow a Rainbow of colors to choose from.
